Each October volunteerism takes center stage for the annual national Make a Difference Day. With the changing weather, it’s a wonderful time to help an elderly neighbor rake leaves, volunteer to run an errand for a mom with young children, or donate supplies or money to local not-for-profits that provide services for people in need.
If you’re looking for a way to help others this month, the Wheaton Community Relations Commission invites Wheaton residents to assist the People’s Resource Center with its Stuff-A-Truck event on Friday, Oct. 22 at the Wheaton PRC, 201 S. Naperville Road.
Volunteers will unload and sort substantial food drive donations. Please sign up by October 15, 2021, through the City’s website.
Shifts are from 10:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. until 5 p.m. All volunteers are required to wear masks, regardless of vaccine status. Please note that this volunteer opportunity includes lifting and prolonged standing. We hope you can join us to help our neighbors in need.
