- Halloween Pumpkin Recycling
The Pumpkin Smash is an annual effort by communities to divert pumpkins from landfills by providing locations for residents to drop-off jack-o-lanterns to be composted. It is held each year the Saturday after Halloween. Participation is Free. All participants are advised to wear a mask and maintain proper social distancing.
This event is offered in partnership with SCARCE, the City of Wheaton, the Wheaton Environmental Improvement Commission, and Lakeshore Recycling Services.
All candles & decorations (stickers, yarn, googly eyes, etc.) must be removed before dropping off at event.
