2011 Road Construction Updates
The 2011 Road Program is under way. There are three main types of road improvements that the Engineering Department makes: street reconstruction, street rehabilitation and street resurfacing.
Street Reconstruction
Pavement reconstruction involves removing the pavement and the base below it. Sometimes, the curb is removed, too. Of the three types of road improvement projects, this is the most extensive.
Street Rehabilitation
This process involves the complete removal and replacement of the curb, followed by resurfacing the entire pavement surface.
Street Resurfacing
Resurfacing, which is the quickest of the three methods of pavement construction, involves grinding the existing pavement to accommodate a pavement overlay.
