Wheaton Man Arrested for Burglary, Hate Crime and Institutional Vandalism

WHEATON, Ill. – On Monday, May 8, 2017, officers from the Wheaton Police Department arrested Michael D. Leathe for burglarizing and vandalizing two separate churches in Wheaton. Trinity Episcopal Church, 130 N. West St., was vandalized and Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 1753 S. Blanchard, was burglarized.

Leathe was subsequently charged with burglary, hate crime and institutional vandalism. The investigation determined the religious institutions were specifically targeted by Leathe. He is currently being held at the DuPage County Jail.
