WHEATON, Ill. – Due to the severe storms that affected this area on July 1, the City is working with ComEd to assess damage in the area. For the most recent updates on power restoration, visit ComEd’s website at

The Public Works Department is currently clearing roads and will be collecting branches and limbs from damaged parkway trees. At this time, residents should not bring tree debris from private property to the curb for collection.
Traffic is limited due to downed power lines on North Main, Manchester and Harrison. Avoid these roads if possible.
Please stay away from downed power lines and be especially mindful to
keep children away from power lines. As power is restored, these could become live.
Wheaton’s City Hall is currently open on a limited basis and is running on reserve power. The City recommends that you postpone any regular business at City Hall if possible.
The National Weather Service forecasts hot and humid conditions throughout this week, with highs in the 90s or possibly reaching 100 degrees. The City asks you please
use precautions during this extreme heat to avoid heat illness.
Currently the cooling center for this area is the Krasa Center at Benedictine University, which is located at 5700 College Road in Lisle. The City is looking to identify other locations.
