Proclamation
WHEREAS, the Sister City Commission of Wheaton, Illinois, serves to provide opportunities for cultural exchange and friendship among the citizens of Karlskoga, Sweden; Wheaton-Aston, England; and Wheaton, Illinois, United States of America; and
WHEREAS, the State Board of Sister Cities has designated March 11, 2002, as "Sister City Day" to promote peace and friendship among all the communities of Illinois and numerous cities around the world; and
WHEREAS, the Sister City Commission of Wheaton is a member of the State Associationof Sister Cities; and
WHEREAS, the Sister City Commission of Wheaton wishes to join all Illinois communities celebrating our sister city affiliations.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, C. James Carr, Mayor, together with the Wheaton City Council, Wheaton, Illinois, on behalf of the Wheaton Sister City Commission and the citizens of Wheaton, Illinois, do hereby declare March 11, 2002, as "Sister City Day" in Wheaton, with all honors and bonds of friendship attached thereto.
