Downtown Design Review Board

The Downtown Design Review Board is vested with the authority to review and make decisions on design review applications for proposals within the Downtown Design Review Overlay District that are not in full compliance with the Downtown Design Review Guidelines (pdf). When considering applications, the board will assess the following factors:

  • Compatibility of the proposed development with neighboring properties;
  • The degree to which the applicant is proposing to comply with the guidelines;
  • Whether strict adherence to the guidelines is reasonable and/or achievable for the application in question; and/or
  • Will the proposal substantially improve the appearance and function of the building and/or site and enhance the character of the downtown even though not in full compliance with the Downtown Design Guidelines?
