Forestry Division
Wheaton takes pride in consistently being named a Tree City USA by the National Arbor Day Foundation for maintaining a high-quality tree program led by the Forestry Division. This division oversees a number of tree preservation programs and performs tasks such as the annual trimming of 3,500 parkway trees.

Free Wood Chips
When available, the City’s Forestry Division provides free wood chips to Wheaton residents. The Forestry Division will deliver wood chips on driveways in quantities of 12 cubic yards. Contact the Forestry Division at 630-260-2122 to see if wood chips are available.
Shared Cost Parkway Tree Program
Homeowners who would like to add a tree to the parkway in front of their homes can participate in the Shared Cost Parkway Tree Program. Qualifying homeowners can select from nine species of trees at a cost of $55 or $95, depending on the species. The City’s Forestry Division will plant the trees in the spring or fall (depending on the species).

Dutch Elm Disease
Wheaton City Code requires homeowners to remove trees on their property that have Dutch Elm disease. The Forestry Division is responsible for enforcing the ordinance. To report suspected cases of Dutch Elm disease, contact the Forestry Division at 630-260-2122.
