The Wheaton Police Department issues a variety of permits and provides many services for residents. Many of the most commonly used forms and applications are found in this section. For more information, contact the Wheaton Police Department at 630-260-2161.
Citation Review Information
If you received a municipal citation from the Wheaton Police Department and wish to have it voided, you will need to complete and submit a Citation Review Form (pdf) to the Services Section of the Police Department.
The form, along with a copy of the citation (if available) will be forwarded to the immediate supervisor of the issuing officer. A copy of the form will also be sent to the parking tickets section of the City of Wheaton Finance Department so that no notices will be sent until the review is completed. All original citations will be returned to you.
Upon completion of the review, the final disposition will be mailed to you and the form will be forwarded to the City’s Finance Department to be maintained in a permanent file.
Disabled Parking Permit
Disabled Parking Permits are available for Wheaton residents at the Police Department.
Temporary and permanent Disabled Parking Permit Applications (pdf) are available, and both need to be signed by the applicant and the applicant’s physician.
Temporary permits are available to Wheaton residents only and are valid for 90 days, with no renewal allowed. The fee is $2. Applicants should complete the application form, have it signed by their physician and return the completed form to the Police Department. Once the fee is paid, the permit will be ready immediately.
Applications for permanent disabled license plates are available at the Police Department. They may be completed and mailed to the Secretary of State.

Private Property Accident Information Exchange
Pursuant to Illinois law, the Wheaton Police Department does not investigate on private property in which there were no injuries, no criminal behavior is involved, and property damage is estimated to be less than $1,500. Motorists involved in such accidents should exchange contact information with the involved parties and contact their vehicle insurance company. To gather necessary information from the other parties, residents may use this Private Property Accident Information Form (pdf). This form is to collect information about the other driver for your records; it will not be retained by the Wheaton Police Department.
Special Event Permit Information
No special event can be undertaken in the City of Wheaton without first receiving a special event permit. A special event is as any activity conducted on City property or City rights-of-way, an outdoor sale, or large assembly on private property involving a carnival or carnival-style amusements, a concert, or an event requiring vehicular or pedestrian traffic control.
Special Event Permit Applications (pdf) must be completed and submitted to the Police Department no later than 60 days before the scheduled event. Event sponsors may be required to meet with City staff regarding requests for any additional City services. Event organizers are urged to meet well in advance of the application submittal to determine if the City is able to perform any requested or required services and to determine the cost of these services. Special Services provided by the City will be billed at a cost in accordance with the Fee Schedule in Section B-5, Appendix B of the Wheaton Municipal Code. Event organizers will be required to pay 50 percent of the estimated cost of these services to the City at the time the permit is issued. The balance reflecting actual cost is due within 30 days of invoicing.
Certificates of insurance naming the City of Wheaton as a co-insured are required for all events on City property. Minimum insurance requirement have been established by the City in the amount of $1,000,000 for any event on City property. Proof of insurance may be required for events which the City feels pose risk to citizens.
Event organizers are required to follow any and all regulations or restrictions pertaining to the holding of the event. The cost of a special event permit is $35.
The route of any parade, race, march or walk must meet with the approval of the Wheaton Police Department. Approval by the City of Wheaton does not constitute the approval of any other government jurisdiction or any property owner.
