Emergency Response
When residents dial 911, they are calling DUCOMM, the dispatching agency for the Wheaton Police and Fire departments as well as other local municipalities. Using a shared dispatch center allows for quick access to help from neighboring communities and shared costs of the dispatch center.
When calling 911, residents should try to remain calm and speak clearly. Dispatchers who are specially trained to work in these situations will attempt to get as much information from callers as possible.
