Safety Trailer

The Wheaton Fire Department Safety Trailer is a mobile teaching tool that can simulate several fire scenarios with fake smoke and doors that heat up. Individuals can learn how to exit their home in the case of a fire, kitchen safety and how to activate 911. For information about the safety trailer, call 630-260-2175.

“Remembering When” Senior Citizen Program

“Remembering When” is a fire safety curriculum geared towards seniors. The program includes information on smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors, cooking safety and general fire safety. To have a representative from the Wheaton Fire Department speak to a group about fire safety, call 630-260-2175 during normal business hours.

Juvenile Fire Setter Interventionist

The Wheaton Fire Department has a trained juvenile fire setter interventionist on staff to talk young people with a problem. Each year in the United States, 300 people are killed and nearly 190 million dollars in property is destroyed by fires set by children. Fifty five percent of all arsonists arrested are children.
