Wheaton City Council Highlights
Meeting: June 6, 2011
Residents Appointed to City Boards/Commissions
The City Council approved the appointment of Michael Mach and Nancy McDonal to the Band Commission; the reappointment of Kay McKeen to the Environmental Improvement Commission; the appointment of Matthey McNear and Robert Willock to the Group Care Home Commission; and the reappointment of Stuart Johnson to the Housing Commission.
Developer Granted Minor Change to Annexation Agreement
The Council approved a minor amendment to the annexation agreement between the Legends of Wheaton Subdivision and the City. The amendment will allow the developer to grade and seed stockpiles of dirt that currently occupy undeveloped lots instead of spreading the dirt over the remaining undeveloped lots. Due to the economy, single-family home construction has slowed considerably, and the subdivision has not been completed within the time frame originally anticipated. The City will work with the developer to review possible drainage concerns from area residents.
City Terminates Agreement for Wescott Crossing Development
Due to the lack of activity moving forward with the proposed Wescott Crossing development, the City terminated an agreement with Norwood-Wheaton LLC. The City previously entered into an agreement with Norwood-Wheaton LLC that would allow Tax Increment Financing funds to encourage redevelopment of the property near Wesley and Cross streets.
