Wheaton City Council Highlights
Meeting: Jan. 3, 2011
Ordinance Dictates Location, Size and Placement of Real Estate Signs
The City Council unanimously passed an ordinance establishing regulations for the number and placement of real estate signs on the property of single-family homes. The ordinance pertains to properties without sidewalks and prohibits signs from being placed in the public right-of-way.
Wheaton Voters to See Referendum Question on Ballot
The Council voted 5-2 to place an advisory referendum question on the April 5, 2011, municipal election ballot to gauge the public’s sentiment regarding the Wheaton Grand Theater’s possible restoration. The question would ask voters if the City should use public funds not to exceed $150,000 per year to restore and operate the Wheaton Grand Theater. The City would not be required to take any action based on the result of the referendum question; it would simply measure public interest.
